Waiting and listening...

Exactly 17 weeks ago I found out I was pregnant. Exactly 17 weeks from now, I will be holding my new baby (if the baby cooperates with his due date, which is unlikely but the only gauge I have right now.)

17 weeks ago I was driving Jarrod crazy about different things like wanting to rent a doppler machine so I could make sure the baby's heart was beating. I kept saying things like "if I could just know it's okay in there..." or "I'll feel more relaxed after the sonogram when I can see it's okay." I remember reading that you could hear the baby's heartbeat with a stethoscope around 21 weeks, and I remember thinking that was an ETERNITY away.

Guess what was ordered on Ebay during my 21st week...

Well, after the stethoscope was ordered, we had an appointment with the doctor where it took the doctor a good three minutes to find the heartbeat with his fancy doppler machine (Jarrod says three minutes... I feel like it was more like ten, but I think his inner timer is a little more accurate than mine). I wasn't worried because I felt him moving the whole car ride to the doctor, but felt pretty sure that it wasn't likely that I would be able to hear his heartbeat with our $6 ebay stethoscope.

I was right. Maybe next month.

You are SO CUTE!!!!!!! I got to visit a friend at the hospital today who had her baby girl yesterday (their blog is the Louisville Flora link on mine), and it made me wish I could be there with you in December. Maybe not in person, but I know my mind will be reeling with thoughts headed your direction when that wonderful day arrives :) I LOVE YOU!

You crack me up!! I was never able to hear Michael with a stethascope or one of those cheaper doppler like things you can get at Motherhood. We tried right up until we had him at 36 weeks. Hope ya'll have better luck!! I didn't worry about a heartbeat after I started feeeling him move. I knew if he was moving, he was ok.
