I had not been so scared of a weather related event since I was in either Elementary school or Junior High, and a tornado warning went off while I was at home alone with my baby brother. I called my dad in Connecticut freaking out. I may be 26 now... but I had a similar reaction last night.

At 3:45 I woke up to the tornado sirens. I woke Jarrod up saying that we needed to go turn on the news. He didn't seem too interested. I turned on the news, watched the weather map with the bright red section with yellow circles right over where we lived. Just about then, Jarrod walked out into the living room holding our pup. The Emergency broadcast thing came on saying "Tornadic activity has been spotted and will be in Carrollton in the next five minutes." With perfect timing, our power went out as soon as that sentence was over. We looked out the window, and couldn't see anything but a bright green lit up sky. Jarrod said it was like a rock concert... couldn't see our yard, couldn't make anything out... just a blurry bright green flashing sky. I lost it. My stomach hurt so bad... we lit candles, got the mattress ready and within ten minutes or so the power was back on and the storm had passed.

The next morning when I was driving, this is what I saw:

This is the storage building at the end our street. A lot of the roof was ripped off

By the time I went back to the house and got the camera, they had semi picked up these power lines... but you get the idea

This picture didn't turn out great... but there was a whole line of trees along the street... all knocked down. The street was full of tree debris. There was also a bunch of clothes scattered in the street, I don't know how they got there... maybe a goodwill donation center or something?

This was the most shocking thing: The overturned trailor that landed on a car. This is at the same storage facility right at the end of our street.

There were a bunch of houses that had trees or fences knocked down... but it could have been a lot worse! Phoebe handled it way better than I did. I just hope that God gives me some supernatural ability to stay calm in that sort of situation when I have children...

I'm so glad you guys are okay. He had his angels surrounding you. Like us. There was a tornado in Burleson, Johnson county, we are in Tarrant. Larry said it was about 7 miles away. Not as close as the storage place to you guys that's for sure. Julie slept right thru the storm over here. It was slamming against the windows from the west, we do not have a house beside us on that side.

I am so glad to know that you are okay, and I would've been freaking out, too!!

When I saw the news last night, national news that is, mention Johnson County and the exact little town where my dad lives, my stomach flipped... I called my dad and he didn't answer his cell phone. The rest of the evening last night, I just kept reading and watching any news source I could find to see pictures or updates on the damage down there. Thankfully, about 10pm last night, he called and told me he was okay but there were numerous neighboring homes and buildings that were completely destroyed...

I thought about ALL my friends last night as different areas of DFW were mentioned, and I truly am relieved to know that you're okay!!!

Well we'll just have to see Fifi and Fets so you can tell her yourselves! We're going to the zoo tomorrow for 1/2 off day...if you're free and brave you should come. We could call and see if they allow dogs in!!

It looks like you guys were hit pretty bad. I can get freaked out by the weather too. Rob rarely gets frazzled about anything...

It's funny how brave you can be around children. There have been several things that have happened at school that would have scared the pants off of me if I didn't have little ones looking at me.
