Shreveport and San Marcus

This weekend, I will be off to spend a little quality time with the Robby and my parents in San Marcus. Robby is doing an international swim meet where he hopes to rank up some high points! I couldn't be more proud of him... not just because he's a good swimmer (although that does help), but he is such a good kid. He always has been. Sure, he's a teenager... but he has a heart of gold.

Jarrod is going to audition for the Shreveport Symphony. He has played with them on numerous occasions when Mark needed a sub, or if there were two tuba parts. After Mark died, Jarrod played the very next Shreveport concert (and he actually played a concert for Mark the week before he died as well.) Shreveport is not a huge job, it's just about one concert every month or so, and it pays per service (per rehearsal, concert) rather than salary... but over 70 tuba players sent in resumes! They narrowed down the resumes and are holding auditions this weekend. It's just so hard to get a tuba job. They don't come up that often, and then when they do, every tuba player shows up (even for a small job like this one!) They only accept one... so it doesn't even matter if he's the best one there, if he doesn't play the best that day. He could easily win this job, but it's just a matter of will he play his best that day. We'll see.

Here are some of my favorite Tuba Excerpts (what he'll have to play at the audition)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family! And I'll be thinking of and praying for Jarrod and his audition in Shreveport. How soon until the results are out, or does he know?

Shreveport reminds of when you came with me to pick up my grandfather's car, and we all ate crawfish while you ate McDonalds :)

Just to set the record straight - I ate the crawfish at your grandparents house. It was my first crawfish experience, and it has been one of my favorite foods since then. I crave it.

What sounds more like me is that I got McDonalds ate it, then ate a lot of crawfish too!

Your baby bro is pretty cool. And I owe all my snow skiing skills to him! Have fun this weekend.

Pretty good excerpts, but I prefer the lullaby he played for Olivia. ;-) Good luck, Jarrod!

Please tell Jarrod good luck and we will be praying. Please tell your family I said Hello and give them a hug from me..... Wow Robbie is swimming, That's awesome. It's hard to believe how fast our siblings grow. Becca is graduating this year and is engaged but don't worry too much yet, it's supposed to be a long engagement, until my brother and his family get back from Japan, which is like 2 1/2 years.
